Scavenging

What is scavenging?

Scavenging is a mechanic unique to the afamiliars.site website that allows Afamiliars to search once a day for items. Some of the items have effects that are cosmetic, like paint and small apparel, and some are even genetic changes, like random horn growth and larger fangs. Some only seem to be good for combining into other items with even more powerful effects.

Very rarely, when your Afamiliars scavenge, they may find adult and baby Afamiliars for you to adopt! Some Afamiliar species gen 1s are exclusive to Scavenging, and all babies are Scavenging-exclusive outside of events!

Click on a heading below to be taken to it!

Note: Scavenging requires an account on afamiliars.site!

What is Luck?

luck

The chance of an Afamiliar performing better at Scavenging is determined by its Luck stat. All Afamiliars have a Luck stat that starts at either 0 (Gen 1 Afamiliars) or 1 (Afamiliar that have listed parents), and can be raised through various means to a maximum of 10. The higher an Afamiliar's Luck, the better chance it has to find items while scavenging.

  • If an Afamiliar is the offspring of other listed Afamiliars (aka it is not a "gen 1"), it starts off life with +1 Luck.

  • If an Afamiliar has been bred, it gets +1 Luck. (only counts once)

  • If an Afamiliar has ever had an RRR order applied, it gets +1 Luck. (only counts once)

  • If an Afamiliar has ever had an MMM order applied, it gets +1 Luck. (only counts once)

  • If an Afamiliar has ever had a Scavenging/Shop item* applied, it gets +1 Luck. (only counts once)
*does not apply to any Voucher items, Sticky-Scaled Fruit, or Skycatnip.

  • Feeding an Afamiliar a Luck Fruit (which can rarely be found Scavenging) raises its Luck by 1.

  • More ways to raise Luck might be implemented in the future!

Babies

Baby Afamiliars have unique baby bases, and cannot breed. They are not exclusive to scavenging, but it is an exciting way to find them for free! Baby Afamiliars can be grown up by paying the Base Value for their species (along with the fees for any MMMs or RRRs they may have applied).

Many species have baby bases, and what is available to be found in the scavenging pool varies. Below is just a sample of some of those cuties!
